Question 1- In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Screenshots of trailer production

we created credits and titles for our trailer on after effects and Photoshop, we experimented with fonts and the background we want to use for our trailer when the titles, credits etc would show up, we chose a red bloody background in order to reflect our genre as well as represent our horror trailer, this is one of the basic conventions that we are following.

Poster final draft

This is my final draft of my poster, i got my last feedback from my class members and have took the criticisms about my last poster and have worked on it to create my final draft, i enlarged my main image making it the main focus in the poster which shows two characters one of which Freddy the stalker and the victim Molly. I have added more production logos as looking at other film posters ive realised that there are a lot of logos in the credit block, also i changed the font to a more suitable font to suit the credit block and to follow the conventions of real media magazines. I also put the title of the film at the bottom to make it look different and stand out i wanted to subvert this convention and make my poster look different but realistic at the same time.

Magazine final draft

This is my final magazine draft, i have made all the changes i was told from the class feedback making it look better and more conventional. I added a sticker on the left hand side as other magazines do this and i wanted to conform to that convention as i thought it looked good. i also changed the sell lines and experimented with different fonts as i got told to use variety of fonts this is also a typical convention of a magazine as some magazines use different font to make the magazine stand out. I moved the plus sign just on top of my sell lines to show that the magazine will feature a lot of articles and pages on different film related stuff. I made the Main article nigger to suit the main image so people know what film and who is on my front cover this will give them an insight of what will be in the magazine. I also made sure that the colour scheme was obvious by changing a lot of the texts to black, red and yellow this portrays the horror genre.

Class feedback on ancillary tasks

Here I asked some of my class members to give me feedback for my poster and magazine in order for me to understand there views better to improve me poster and magazine.

18th Draft
This is my next draft, as you can see it looks very conventional as I step by step I developed my poster in order for it to look like a realistic film poster which conforms to the conventions such as the credit block in small etc.

17th Draft
I experimented with the background and made the colour of the background slightly red to represent blood as its going to be a horror movie.

16th Draft

I wanted to experimented with the background as I felt it was to plain and dull, I wanted to create something horror and which represents the location of the film which is in a basement.

Locations

Many different locations will be used throughout our trailer to show the story, i will follow conventions of a horror trailer/film to conform to the genre more so that it would be obvious what the genre of the movie is. Some locations we used are graveyard, basement, alley way, school.

10th Draft

This is my final  magazine draft,  i have too my teachers feedback into account and changed the masthead font, the masthead font now looks much bold and stands out a lot. I also removed one poster because the two posters were from the same movie.

15th Draft

I decided to change my from style to something more less cliche and bold, this font looks more sharp and frightening, the bright red makes it contrast from the background. I also added the characters name on the top sides of the poster this makes it look more like a hit film as the actors are well known as some of a poster convention is to have actors name on the sides.

14th draft

I didn't like the main image floating in the center of the page so i put it back down where it originally was. I also expanded it so that it would look like the most important on the poster. I also changed the font colour of the title to red so that it would go more with the colour scheme.

13th Draft

I put the tag line to the bottom so that it stands put more. and changed the font to make it look bold, i also changed the font of the credits making them look more professional.

12 poster draft

After getting feedback, I wanted to change the background to black as it will look more horror suited. I also changed the font as my previous one was too cliché. I added blood splats as a border to make it clear to the audience that the genre is horror. I also changed the billing block and made the font much smaller.

11th Poster draft

I experimented with font colours and changed the font colour of 'past' to black from red so it looks more professional and links to the genre as red is the colour of blood.

10 Poster draft

I wanted to blend the image of Molly more in with Freddy to show that Molly is all Freddy thinks about. and as he is behind her you can tell his more superior to her.

Poster 9th Draft

I changed the main images and wanted to use a darker image of Freddy, the image of Molly shows us that she scared which makes it appropriate for the poster. I also experimented with the image colours and changed the brightness and contrast of it.

Poster 8th draft

For my my 8th draft i enlarged the silhouette of Freddy so that it fits in the whole poster, to make him stand out and seem that he is a huge importance in the film and the story will be based on him as well as Molly. I also experimented with a different image of Molly looking directly at the camera, this makes her kook vulnerable and innocent.

Poster 7th draft

My 7th draft is a mid shot of Molly. A silhouette of Freddy is behind her which looks like he is stalking her and this is what the movie is about so in think this is a good way to show the genre of the film.

Poster 6th Draft

This is my 6th draft, i used repetitive images of Molly as the background, this shows that she is one of the important characters in the film, it also gives away what the film will be about as her hands are over her face suggesting shes frightened. We see a silhouette of Freddy, we cannot see his face which looks mysterious and people would want to find out who he is by watching film.

Poster 5th draft

I experimented with fonts for the title and this from appealed to me as it will suit the genre more and it looks more spooky. I also experimented with the billing block by changing the font and adding more film production logos to make it seem like an actual poster this follows the basic convention of a film poster.
