9th draft

This is my final draft, I changed the lighting as i wanted it to suit the genre of it being dark and scary. I also experimented with the masthead with a shadow at the back. As you can see i used the convention of a horror magazine to make my on, i have used masthead, sell lines, images, banners etc.

8th magazine draft

I moved the sell line 'exclusive interview with Rob Zombie' to so that the left side wouldn't look plain, most magazines have sell lines on both sides, so i wnated to follow this convention.
7th draft

I added black shadows in the outer areas of the names, titles. to make it looks more creative and appealing. I also moved the sticker around so that it wouldn't cover the main image as much. as the main image is important in my magazine.

6th draft
I wanted to add a sticker, the writing on it will stand out from it, many magazines have a sticker on them highlighting something that is important, i have wrote special horror edition so that it would attract the audience. The bright yellow contrasts with the font colour.

5th draft
I blurred the background so that the image of Freddy with stand out more then the background as there is a lot going in the background and it the similar colours as the main image.

4th draft

I experimented with fonts to make it look more professional, having analysed other magazines I realised that the font they used is written in bold letters. I experimented with fonts sizes as well as font colours.

3rd draft

I completely changed the layout, image, text on my magazine as I wanted to make it look more professional. out of all the images I took of Freddy the killer I chose this one as I think its the most appropriate, he is looking directly at the camera which draws the readers attention. He is holding a weapon which gives the genre of the film away which is slasher.

Poster 4th draft

I added a blood splatter background because the background was very plain this makes it look very horror.

We held auditions for female drama students in our college so we can find 'Molly' who is one of the main character in our trailer, we will also use her for our magazine and posters. We held the auditions in our media classroom during break and lunch time. The auditions was successful as we found good actresses to be in our trailer as Molly and other female victims.

Film poster 2nd draft

Here is my second draft of my film poster for 'Molly', i changed the picture from my previous draft of the film poster, this picture shows a close up of Molly but only showing half of her face this could mean that because she dies in the movie she is not that important also you can see Freddy in the background behind her which shows that she is being followed, this tells the audience straight away that the genre of this film would be stalker/slasher. I also added the films tagline just beneath the movie title this tells the audience a bit of the message behind the film, the tagline 'you cant hide away from the past' sounds creepy meaning the past will haunt you eventually. I also added more film logos at the bottom so it looks more realistic. I also experimented with some fonts and chose the most relevant. For my final draft i will experiment with more fonts for the billing block and also experiment with the main image lighting make it look more scary so it conveys the genre.

Film Magazine second draft

Here is my second draft of my magazine, i have made changes with the typography, main image and background. I added in a image of blood spatter behind the main image, this makes the genre look more clear and the audience will realise that it is a horror issue magazine. I experimented with fonts for the sell lines which will make the magazine look more attractive.

Film poster 1st draft

Here is my first poster draft, i have followed the basic conventions of a poster, i followed flat plan that i made easier so it was easy for me to sort out the layout. I used the same font for 'Molly' as i did for my magazine as i thought that it was a very suitable font and would look good on the poster too.  I kept the colour scheme black and white as these colours contrast well with the background. The main image is of Molly and Freddy, it is clear that Freddy is stalking Molly by watching her secretly, we can tell by Molly's facial expressions that she is unaware and looks uncertain of what is happening, she also looks innocent. It is shot in an exterior setting to show the audience an insight of what will happen in the movie.

Film poster sketch
1st front cover magazine draft

Here is my first draft of my film magazine cover, the colour schemes i will be using are black, yellow and red. Black connotes danger, the yellow connotes mystery and red connotes horror, blood. I haven't experimented with much fonts for the sell lines however i will be doing this to develop my magazine further. My main image is a mid shot of my model 'Freddy' who is looking directly at the camera which is a basic convention of a magazine cover as the main image character looks directly at the camera. as you can see i have used all the basic conventions of a magazine as i think it will look more realistic by following the conventions.

Magazine front cover flat plan

I have made a magazine plan on how I want the layout of my magazine to be. this will help me further on with my magazine drafts.

Masthead experiments

Here are fonts that i like from dafont.com. I will be using some of these fonts for my magazine and poster. I like these because it makes it clear what my chosen genre is. By seeing the font you can easily tell that it represents horror. My magazine will be based on a horror genre so these type of fonts would be perfect, however some fonts are bold and stand out. I will make a tally chart and ask people which front they would want to see on a horror magazine cover, this will help me to chose the right font.

Here is a bar chart of the votes i got for each of the fonts, most people prefer number 4, From the feedback i got i was told that this font stands out then the rest and it makes it clear that it is a horror font and represents the genre horror. I will use this font as it will be the most relevant for my magazine masthead name which is going to be 'Film Nation'.

1st draft pencil sketch of front cover magazine

Here is my first sketch of what I will like my magazine to look like, I have followed the conventions of a magazine so that it looks realistic. My magazine will be called 'Film nation' as this connotes that the magazine is all about the film industry which makes it clear that its a film magazine.

Magazine inspirations

Here are some front cover of some horror magazines that inspire me, I like the way some conform to magazine conventions. The colour scheme is mainly black, red and orange this connotes the horror genre. I will use these type of conventions when it comes to designing my magazine as my genre is part of the horror genre.

Analysis of film trailers

Our pitch

Group members:  Tahmina, Leah, Jerome, Dillon
Chosen genre: Stalker/Slasher
Title of the film: Molly
Taglines of film:
What goes around comes around
You can’t hide from the past
Characters:
Freddie shaw - stalker
Molly Hall - victim
Jack Daniels - murderer
David James -  Mollys boyfriend
Sarah Mill - Bully
Sean Brown - Bully
Joshua Odu - Bully
Lucy reid - victim
Katy Daniels (Jacks wife) -  victim
Tommy – victim
Charlotte ann – victim
Rebecca charles - victim

Plot:

Freddy Shaw is infatuated by Molly Hall, a girl who he has never spoken to but has fallen in love with ever since she smiled at him at a bar. From then on he started following her but never approached her because he was scared to get her number. This slowly led to an obsession where she was constantly on his mind and before he knew it she was ‘the one’…

After a few months of Freddie’s constant following, Molly notices him more and feels his presence and so she reported him to the police and got an injunction from the court. However this still doesn’t stop Freddy as he becomes better at concealing himself from her. He kills her boyfriend in jealousy and gets sent to prison for 10 years. Within that period of time, Molly commits suicide because she is bullied in school. Within this time the bullies have all gone their own ways in life, some becoming teachers and getting married.  5 years after his sentencing, Freddy comes out of prison wanting to seek revenge so he hunts them down and gets their loved ones first just like they got his loved one. One by one he dumps them in a basement and tortures them live on a video feed and sends the link to the five people who killed Molly.

Mise en scene:
We will be using many types of props to make it look real and effective such as fake blood, knife, and various types of clothing to make the characters look real. Street lighting will be used when we’re filming in an exterior setting. The murderers will wear dark clothing, they will have drink bottles, their facial expressions will vary throughout the scene as they will be laughing when they first approach her but when she gets stabbed, they will be shocked and their body language would show horror. Freddy’s facial expressions will stay constant and abrupt.
Molly will be wearing a short dress with heels and heavy make up as she has just been on a night out. Her facial expressions will show fear throughout as she is firstly being followed then confronted by a knife the next.
Freddy’s victims later on will all be crying, make up will be used on the characters to show how hot the room is and blood will also be used to indicate they have been tortured by Freddy.

Cinematography/photography
We will be using many different shots, camera angles to portray the trailer, this will have an effect on the way the audience views it, and we will use many sound techniques that would portray the genre and emphasis the story.  Non diegetic and diegetic sounds will be used during different scenes.
These are some of the camera techniques we will be using:
Two shot
Close up
Long shot
Close up
Mid shot
Over the shoulder
Tracking shot

Conventions: We will follow conventions of a horror movie, using the same camera techniques and similar sounds such as screeching, crying, shouting and heavy breathing sounds.

Our unique selling point will be the fact that ‘it is based on a true story’ which intrigues the audience as they want to witness the horrific story of Molly.

Mood board:

This is my stalker/slasher mood board, it represents the common images and traits seen in stalker/slasher films, I have also included film posters to show how they are represented within this genre. By looking at this you can see many victims are females who are stalked before preyed on, the attackers in this case stalkers seem to have a hidden identity, this also shows some of the conventional iconography, we can see blood, knifes, masks, frightened faces etc.
